When you visit the Factory Arts District, 8th Day is a must-stop for craft cocktails (and mocktails) made with handcrafted, in-house spirits and locally sourced products. With a rotating seasonal menu, you'll always find something fresh in your glass as well as in the artists' creations featured on the walls. Take home a bottle or can of your favorite. Come in for trivia, yoga, pop-up markets, and more.
The industrial-chic vibe brings classic style to the modern age, much like their takes on absinthe and other signature liqueurs -- try the rhubarb -- and cocktails. Four Finger understands sacrifice since the name is derived from an unfortunate accident with founder Brad Colver losing a pinky while installing a door at the Fountain Fletcher location. Always wanted to try your hand at distilling? You and six friends can take classes that result in the creation of a 15-gallon barrel of whiskey that is uniquely yours. Locations also in Westfield and Lebanon.
Located just south of Indy in Franklin, IN, in a historic garment factory, Haberdasher is Johnson County's first legal distillery since the Civil War. Specializing in small-batch whiskey and gin, the business serves unique creations featuring rich botanical infusions that flavor classic cocktails like the Sazerac as well as fresh twists on favorites like the pumpkin-spiced Old Fashioned. Small plates are also available to round out your tasting experience.
With a claim as the most scenic distillery, Hard Truth is nestled on 325 acres in the hills of Brown County and provides a true getaway from the city. The specialty is sweet mash whiskey with their rye earning critical acclaim including a gold medal at the USA Spirits Awards. Tour the distillery, take a mixology class, get lost on an ATV adventure through the wooded hills, enjoy live music when weather permits, and sit down for a meal at the restaurant. Location also at The Garage Food Hall.
A revitalized 19th-century carriage house in Fletcher Place is home to the country's first combat-disabled, veteran-owned distillery. Try their vodka, rum, whiskey, moonshine, limoncello, orangecello, bourbon, and cherry liqueur with a drink from the full-service bar, relax by the cozy fireplace, and order some food to round out your visit. In a salute to the military background of the owners, the spirits are named using the NATO phonetic alphabet.
A drive to Fortville is worth it when the destination is Moon Drops. Formed after late-night bonfires sparked the idea, the distillery is home to a full range of handcrafted spirits using a grain-to-glass philosophy with Indiana farmers providing ingredients and spent grains being returned to them for livestock feed. The Bonfire Blends moonshine comes in a variety of taste-tempting flavors like apple pie and peppermint, the 32-times charcoal-filtered vodka is exceptionally smooth, and bourbon is coming soon. The speakeasy-style tasting room hosts incredible live music throughout the year.
This 15,000-sq.-ft. facility along the Monon Railway is a community hub with two levels, a rooftop patio, and large, welcoming outdoor space. In addition to inventive signature cocktails like the Sun King Sling and spiked slushies, there are plenty of dining options. Oca offers charcuterie and sandwiches, La Margarita serves solid Mexican fare, Pi has your pizza desires covered, and The Den by FoxGardin puts hearty comfort food on your table.
West Fork started as a modest distillery founded in a warehouse with the goal of embodying Indiana's spirit by using the state's superb agricultural resources to craft quality beverages. Their success has necessitated growth and expansion and the main campus in Westfield is now a 35,000-sq.-ft. agritourism destination including the Mash House restaurant, Stave Cocktail Lounge, an event center, and more. With plenty of awards to their name, West Fork has revived the historic Old Hamer bourbon brand dating to the 1800s. The newest member of the family is Rise & Revel, a coffee-to-cocktail bar in Fountain Fletcher. Serving creative cocktails featuring West Fork products, you can also expect high-quality coffee drinks.
