Indianapolis Museum of Art

The Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields’ collection traces the history of art around the globe, from antiquity to the present day. Located on 152 acres of gardens and grounds, the museum's permanent collection spans a vast range of cultures and eras, and numbers more than 50,000 works including one of the nation's largest and most significant collections of Asian art.

Immerse Yourself in the LUME

Be transported to the other side of the world at THE LUME Indianapolis featuring Connection: Land, Water, Sky – Art & Music from Indigenous Australians in this stunning exhibition that features 100 contemporary Indigenous Australian artists. Through the interplay of art and music, Connection welcomes you to Country – the Indigenous Australian worldview that everything living is connected.

The Gardens at Newfields

Enjoy 52 acres of horticulture in The Garden at Newfields. Spring blooms, summer color, fall foliage, and frost covered evergreens – there’s something to see all year. Made up of our living collection and seasonal displays, this Indianapolis oasis is sure to delight the senses. With half of its footprint made up of Oldfields (a National Historic Landmark estate), there are many winding paths and interesting spaces to explore.

Lilly House

While wandering The Garden, don’t hesitate to tour Lilly House, a National Historic Landmark and exemplary example of a 20th century country estate. The Landon family founded the estate in 1907, building their French inspired home, greenhouses, and other support buildings. In the 1920’s Jessie Landon invited the Olmsted Brothers to design a garden landscape to match the grandeur of their home. The Lilly family purchased the property in 1932 and acquired the neighboring properties over the next few decades. They would eventually donate the 56 acres to the Art Association of Indianapolis to build an art museum and become what we know as Newfields today.

The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park

Open from dawn to dusk every day and always free, The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park is a 100-acre rural oasis situated in the heart of Indianapolis. A living sculpture park focused on experimentation, public interaction, and community engagement, it includes a 35-acre lake, woodlands, wetlands, and the largest native pollinator meadow in Indianapolis.

Tips for Visiting

Tickets are $20 for adults, $13 for children ages 6-17, $18 for seniors 55+, and children ages 5 and under are free. Combine and save on Indy’s top attractions with a 1-day or 3-day Indy Attraction Pass. Eat at the Café, explore the Beer Garden at the Greenhouse, or the Museum Shop. General admission tickets do not include THE LUME Indianapolis. There is free parking, and all guests (including members) are required to reserve tickets online in advance. Free WiFi is available.
