Founded in 1956 by students from the Herron School of Art, the fair began as a modest sidewalk show featuring just 15 artists. Over the years, it has grown into a nationally recognized event that draws approximately 60,000 visitors annually. The fair’s juried format ensures a high standard of quality and originality, with a wide variety of media represented, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, fiber, jewelry, glass, and wood.
In addition to art, the fair features a lively mix of food vendors, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities. Visitors can enjoy hands-on experiences like “Spin-a-Pot,” community art projects, and face painting for kids. Local musicians and performers provide entertainment throughout the weekend, creating a festive atmosphere that complements the artistic energy of the fair.
