Overall, fewer vehicles for attendees and group transport = lower emissions, and a sustainable event choice, just by hosting an event in Indy!

This not-for-profit organization offers over 10 miles of linear park experience that inspires and sustains connections and cultural experiences that are accessible to all. More Sustainable Touchpoints for Planners
Indianapolis offers a number of built-in advantages for planners with sustainability goals:
- Green venues: Many event spaces, including the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium, offer recycling, composting, and energy-efficient systems. Check out the sustainable initiatives at these venues and get inspired about how to utilize and promote these offerings at your own events through signage and exhibitor awareness. - Local sourcing and Support: Caterers and restaurants are ready to build seasonal, Indiana-grown menus that cut down on transportation emissions and support local growers. For example, Visit Indy partner, Kahn’s Catering has their own, chemical-free garden where they source edible flowers and fresh herbs.
- Food Donations: Support the local community by donating surplus food to Second Helpings, a nonprofit organization that transforms rescued food into nutritious meals for those in need. The organization works closely with caterers, venues, and event planners to ensure safe and efficient food recovery, aligning your event with sustainable and socially responsible practices. - Air Travel: Have we mentioned that Indianapolis International Airport was the first U.S. airport to receive LEED certification for their entire terminal campus? They host the world’s largest airport-based solar farm, operate on of the largest electric airport shuttle bus fleet in the U.S., and partner with the White Lick Beekeepers Association to offer 4.7 acres of airport land to support a community bee apiary.
