Black Dog Brewing Company is officially ushering in a new era for the former Hotel Tango Fletcher Place tasting room as exterior signage changes begin and the business continues expanding its offerings and community programming in Fletcher Place.
Black Dog acquired the Fletcher Place location in September 2025, with plans to thoughtfully evolve the space while preserving the hospitality culture that helped make it a staple in downtown Indianapolis’ craft beverage scene. Originally operated by Hotel Tango Distillery, the tasting room became known as one of the early leaders in Indianapolis’ craft cocktail movement and helped shape the growth of cocktail culture in the city.
Under new ownership, Black Dog plans to continue that cocktail-forward approach while expanding offerings to include Black Dog beer, wine, mocktails, THC seltzers, live music, weekly community programming, and a new New York-style pizza kitchen expected to launch in mid-summer.
For owners Jeremy and Tiffany Kuntz, the vision extends beyond simply operating a bar.
“We’ ve always believed people are looking for places where they can reconnect — with old friends, new people, and their community, ” said Jeremy Kuntz, owner of Black Dog Brewing Company. “So many true gathering places have disappeared over the years. We wanted to create a space that feels welcoming, comfortable, and alive. Somewhere people genuinely want to spend time. ”
The couple first built that philosophy through Black Dog’s Mooresville location, focusing heavily on hospitality, events, and community engagement.
“We want people to feel like this is their neighborhood spot, ” said Tiffany Kuntz. “Whether someone comes in for cocktails, pizza, live music, or just conversation after work, we want the experience to feel approachable and community-centered. ”
In addition to rebranding the tasting room, Black Dog has also assumed operations of the former Foxhole event space, which will now operate as Gravity Hill Event Space.
The reimagined venue will serve as a flexible event destination for weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate gatherings, private parties, live entertainment, and community celebrations in the heart of Fletcher Place. Gravity Hill Event Space accommodates up to 150 seated guests or 300 standing guests and is now accepting booking inquiries at events@gravityhillevents.com.
Black Dog Fletcher Place also plans to continue building consistent community programming throughout the week with recurring events including:
- Trivia Tuesdays with Hambone’s Trivia
- Music Bingo Wednesdays
- Live Music Saturdays
- An ongoing Mug Club (details attached below)
While the concept is evolving, Black Dog says honoring the legacy of the Fletcher Place location remains important.
“There’s a lot of history in this building and a lot of respect for what Hotel Tango created here, ” Jeremy Kuntz said. “They helped establish cocktail culture in Indianapolis, and we want to continue that spirit while bringing our own identity and energy into the space. ”
