Every year we gather our families to give thanks and enjoy a delicious meal together. Thanksgiving is typically a peaceful day filled with love, turkey, and way too much pie.
After dessert, most bring out the shopping ads to strategize their early morning game plan. Black Friday is typically a day filled with crowds, traffic, and a lot of frustration when the store "just" sold-out of the item on your list.
So this year we challenge you to extend the feels of Thursday and start a new Black Friday tradition. Indiana State Parks are offering free admission and encouraging families to #OptOutside on Black Friday. Sound a lot better to us than waiting in line at 4 am.
Double bonus: You can even win a $200 hiking package by snapping a photo at an Indiana State Park with the hashtag #OptOutside or #OptOusideIN. Awesome, right? We recommend checking out Fort Harrison State Park on Indy's northeast side for incredible hiking, biking, and running trails.
In addition to Indiana State Parks, Indy's largest city park Eagle Creek will also be offering free admission. It is one of the nation’s largest city parks with 3,900-acres of land and a 1,400-acre lake.
Make your Black Friday a little greener this year by exploring our state parks instead of our malls. This new initiative will allow your family to spend quality time together in nature at no cost to you. Now isn’t that something to be thankful for?
