Calling all history buffs! The Eiteljorg has something special lined up for you! The Eiteljorg’s latest exhibit, Acts of Faith: Religion and the American West is a must-see that closes soon. The Acts of Faith exhibit closes August 4th, and this is your last chance to see it!
What is Acts of Faith All About?
Acts of Faith dives into how diverse religious and spiritual experiences helped shape modern beliefs in the American West. It’s not the usual narratives of Manifest Destiny or Westward Expansion; instead, it’s a deep exploration of the cultures – including Native Americans, Chinese immigrants, Mormons, Catholics, and Protestants - that have contributed to the rich tapestry of religious diversity that makes up our nation.
Start with the Basics: Other Must-See Exhibits:
If you’re new to the Eiteljorg, or want to get a fuller picture before diving into Acts of Faith, check out their other fantastic exhibits:
- Expressions of Life: Native Art in North America
- Explore the Native American experience through the themes of relation, continuation, and innovation while also demonstrating the continuum that is Native art.
- Attitudes: The West in American Art
- Look closely at Western art, focusing more on gaining a deeper appreciation of the diverse stories of the American West.
Exploring these other exhibits first will allow for some better context for Acts of Faith. You will get to see these two different religions on their own first and then how the threads intertwine through Acts of Faith.
