Almost four years ago, Indianapolis was awarded the 2022 College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship, and now we are less than 55 days away from event weekend. Thanks to the more than 400 members of our Host Committee, hard at work putting the finishing touches on what will be an incredible weekend for both the Indianapolis community and college football fans from across the country. Indianapolis will put on the best Championship Weekend in the history of the CFP Championship Series.
Fans can expect activations around every corner, fully immersed in all things college football. Downtown Indianapolis will transform into Championship Campus providing a fan-friendly, walkable footprint to experience CFP signature events such as Playoff Fan Central, Playoff Playlist Live!, Media Day, the Extra Yard 5K and Taste of the Championship.
I am excited to share a rundown of opportunities for fans, including the just announced musical acts for the AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! and Allstate Championship Tailgate concert series.
Championship weekend will feature CFP’s free signature concert series from Saturday, January 8-Monday, January 10 on Monument Circle. Recently announced, performers will include AJR, Twenty One Pilots, Ava Max, Doja Cat, BRELAND and Sam Hunt.
Playoff Fan Central inside the Indiana Convention Center will offer fans a family-friendly opportunity to experience the College Football Playoff National Championship. You won’t want to miss interactive games, clinics, pep rallies, special guest appearances, media day and more!
Fans can experience behind the scenes access with student-athletes and coaches from each of the CFP National Championship participating teams at Media Day, Saturday, January 8.
On Sunday, January 9, the official road race of the College Football Playoff takes over the streets of Indy for the Extra Yard 5K benefitting the CFP Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers (EYFT) initiative. Registration for the Extra Yard 5K is $35 here (top finishers win tickets to the championship game as well). Sunday night’s Taste of the Championship also benefits EYFT and provides fans the opportunity to sample gourmet food and drinks from chefs and restaurants across the city and around the country.
We are closing in on 50 days until championship weekend and the excitement is mounting for our community. I want to reiterate my thanks to our city, state, host committee and community leaders who have come together to ensure this event’s success.
We look forward to seeing you for all the festivities January 8-10, 2022. For more information about the 2022 CFP Indianapolis Host Committee and how to get involved, follow along on our social channels @2022Indy.
