Overview

Founded in 2014 by the husband-and-wife duo Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter, The War and Treaty is one of the most electrifying new acts in American music, blending soul, country and other influences for a sound that transcends barriers. They were nominated for Best New Artist and Best American Roots Song at the 2024 Grammy Awards and also nominated for Duo of the Year at the CMA Awards two years in a row. Other career highlights have included opening stadium shows for the likes of the Rolling Stones and Zach Bryan. The War and Treaty’s fifth studio album, Plus One (2025), was a double LP recorded at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
