Overview
Dungeons & Dragons is pulling out all the stops and bringing you a Gen Con experience like never before! Introducing The D&D Tower—located in the illustrious Indiana Repertory Theater, featuring six D&D-ified floors and adventures galore.
Whether attendees want to hear from the game’s designers, watch their favorite performers, dive into short adventures, or simply soak in the atmosphere at the D&D Carnival, the D&D Tower promises activities throughout the convention. Fans unable to attend in person will also be able to watch the Main Stage, D&D Talks, and Actual Play Amphitheater live on the official D&D YouTube channel.
A New Dawn for D&D
The convention kicks off on Thursday, July 30, with the D&D Vision Keynote 2027: A New Dawn of D&D at 6 pm. Hosted by Theo Solomon, with Dan Ayoub, Head of the D&D Franchise at Wizards of the Coast, the presentation promises first looks at upcoming projects, special guests, and exclusive announcements that will showcase the future of Dungeons & Dragons.
Celebrity Games and Live Entertainment
One of the weekend’s headline attractions is Dungeon Masters Live Play on Saturday, August 1, where Jasmine Bhullar will guide a celebrity cast including Mayanna Berrin, Christian Navarro, Neil Newbon, and Devora Wilde through an official D&D adventure filled with unexpected twists.
Animal lovers can also enjoy The Puppy Roll III: LIVE, hosted by Anjali Bhimani with special guests including Felicia Day. The fan-favorite event sees performers roleplay as their own pets while raising money for animal rescue efforts through Petco Love, with additional fundraising taking place through Tiltify.
Music also takes center stage as five-time Grammy-nominated composer David Arkenstone presents Dungeon Masters: The Music of David Arkenstone, a live orchestral performance of his fantasy soundtrack created to accompany Dungeons & Dragons adventures.
Throughout the weekend, audiences can also experience The Twenty-Sided Tavern, the award-winning interactive stage production where audience participation shapes every performance into a unique adventure.
Learn from D&D’s Biggest Names
The D&D Talks series offers fans an opportunity to hear directly from designers, authors, actors, and veteran Dungeon Masters. Featured sessions include conversations with Matt Mercer and Jasmine Bhullar on the art of Dungeon Mastering, discussions with Luke Gygax, Justice Arman, Wes Schneider, and James Wyatt about campaign design, and storytelling panels featuring R.A. Salvatore, Laura Hickman, Tracy Hickman, Neil Newbon, Devora Wilde, Anjali Bhimani, Ginny Di, and many more.
The weekend also includes workshops covering game design, worldbuilding, storytelling, character creation, and campaign development.
Actual Plays and Interactive Adventures
The D&D Actual Play Amphitheater will feature live games hosted by well-known creators throughout the convention. Highlights include Luke Gygax running a Greyhawk adventure, Matthew Lillard hosting a special edition of Faster Purple Worm: Defeat the Audience!, Jason Carl leading a Vampire: The Masquerade session with an all-star cast, and performances from groups including StoryQuest, BlackwaterDnD, and Theatre of the Unaligned.
Players looking to jump into the action themselves can participate in Dungeon Dare: Web of the Red Wizards, a fast-paced combat experience inspired by the upcoming Deadfall adventure and the newest season of Dungeon Masters. Participants receive pre-generated 3rd-level characters before descending into the Underdark for a dangerous encounter against the Red Wizards.
Ending with a Spectacle
The weekend concludes with a D&D Drone Show on Saturday at 10:15 pm, featuring an aerial display inspired by the monsters, worlds, and adventures that have defined Dungeons & Dragons for more than five decades.
With six floors of immersive attractions, celebrity appearances, live games, concerts, educational panels, and exclusive previews, the D&D Tower is shaping up to be one of the largest and most ambitious showcases the franchise has ever presented at Gen Con.
