Looking to leave less of a carbon footprint and shop more sustainably? Don’t worry, Indy has some great options for you to spend your money in a more eco-conscious way.
Indy Based Refillery
A refillery serves as a place for you to bring reusable containers from home or purchase your own to fill with household products like soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, and more. This helps to create low-waste alternatives to mass-produced plastic bottles.
The Refill Bar Co. is located in the Rooftop Fruit shop in Fountain Square.
They offer pre-filled bottles of products as well as empty bottles available for purchase to refill. If you bring your own (and make sure they are both clean and dry) you can get 5% off any item you are filling it with!
A few of the many items you can purchase from the refill bar include:
- Soap
- All-Purpose Cleaner
- Shampoo & Conditioner
- Lotion
- Herbal Hydrosols
- Deodorant
- Fabric Softener
- Laundry Detergent
If you are located in the Noblesville area, be sure to check out The Sustainery for additional sustainable goods and refillery.
Coffee Shops
Both Amberson Coffee & Grocer and Helm Coffee Roasters use reusable glass jars for takeaway coffee. If you bring back the jar to re-use for your next coffee choice, you’ll get a discount on your next purchase!
Bulk-Bin Buying
Buying in bulk allows you to buy the exact amount of what you need without waste. Georgetown Market and Good Earth Natural Food Company are two local grocery stores encouraging bulk-bin buying for nuts, oils, grains, beans, and more.
Shopping at these markets is good for the environment and your health as many of the products are locally sourced, low-waste, and health-conscious.
You can bring your own container or buy one at the store to use for your purchases.
