Each year, Indy's cultural institutions and museums recognize the importance of Dr. King’s message with special programming. This holiday, you can celebrate Dr. King’s legacy with free admission at many Indy attractions.

2. Madam Walker Legacy Center

The Madam Walker Legacy Center's 43rd MLK Day of Celebration speaker will Caroline A. Wanga, the President & CEO of Essence Ventures, a portfolio of brands that drive a global Black economic ecosystem

3. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park & Landmark for Peace Memorial

Designed by Greg Perry and created in 1996 with sculptor Daniel Edwards, this artwork reflects Robert F. Kennedy’s call for justice, nonviolence, and reconciliation. The sculpture depicts Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reaching toward one another across a wide, but not insurmountable, divide.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park is currently undergoing a $6.8 million expansion project that will add a new plaza, walkways, landscaping, and enhancements to the existing Landmark for Peace monument. Stay up to date on the project’s construction on the Kennedy King website here.
