Those visiting Downtown Indy have another immersive attraction to explore thanks to the newly constructed Back 9 Golf & Entertainment facility, just over one mile southwest of Lucas Oil Stadium.
Set to celebrate their grand opening on Friday, Aug. 5, the $30 million, 58,500-square-foot venue provides golfers of all skill levels with a laid-back space to come and work on their game, with 75 climate-controlled golf bays spread out across three stories. In addition to an interactive golf experience, Back 9 also offers up an expansive food and drink menu, along with live music Friday and Saturday evenings on their 550-person outdoor pavilion.
With food and beverage options available on all three stories of the facility, director of sales and marketing Zach Tharp explains the Back 9 menu is much more than your typical pub-style cuisine.
“You normally come in [a place like this] and go, ‘Oh, it’s just bar food,’” Tharp says. “This won’t be bar food — it’s elevated.”
While enjoying delicious food and beverages, Back 9 visitors can compete on the world’s top golf courses, thanks to the interactive capabilities available at each golf bay.
“You can come out here for an outing in the middle of December, put a foursome in each bay and play Whistling Straits,” Tharp says.
For those with little-to-no golf experience, though, Tharp emphasizes that Back 9 Golf & Entertainment is a place where all are invited to come and have fun.
“We can provide that fun and excitement for someone who’s never played or the golfer that plays 12 to 15 times a year,” Tharp says. “We’re made for everyone.”
