Swimmers, take your mark. All eyes are currently on Indianapolis as 796 swimmers compete for 52 coveted spots in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Nine days of nonstop coverage on NBC showcase the citywide elevated infrastructure, new developments, and the Circle City's presence as a key competitor to host large-scale events. Less than one month after welcoming 300,000 visitors for The Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the Indianapolis 500, the city went back at it to host the world's largest swim event in modern history. Indy's proven ability to deliver extraordinary experiences solidifies our reputation as a premier destination for major events.

“Indianapolis came in with a bid that was second to none,” Hinchey said. “And of course, the history we have there, the centennial history of the 1924 Trials and Games in Paris leads to what we’re doing this year. And then really the people of Indianapolis, the Indiana Sports Corp, are just phenomenal partners.” - Tim Hinchey, USA Swimming CEO

Indy is Innovative

Two-and-a-half pools were being built from the ground up inside Lucas Oil Stadium, where 30K fans gather each night to watch the top athletes in swimming compete for a ticket to the Paris Olympic Games. This is the first time in history a swimming pool was constructed in an NFL football stadium, and with nine days of nonstop swimming, Indy is touted for its innovation and ability to continually host large-scale events in its downtown core.

Downtown Transforms for Fans

Like Paris, but closer. Downtown Indy is home to a 66-ft tall reimagining of the iconic Parisian landmark, the Eiffel Tower. Fabricated by the Latinas Welding Guild, the 20,000-pound Eiffel Tower—dubbed the "Indianapolis Tower"—is a stunning photo opportunity and offers an inside look at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Throughout Georgia Street and inside the Indiana Convention Center, fans can take part in free concerts, the Toyota Aqua Zone, and USA Swimming Live during the nine days of Trials.
