Overview
Acclaimed pianist Javier Perianes returns to perform Schumann’s beloved Piano Concerto, music that sings with tenderness, poetry, and unbridled Romantic spirit. Jun Märkl pairs the concerto with the sunlit warmth of Brahms’s radiant Second Symphony and introduces Supermaximum by this season’s “Composer in the Spotlight,” Kenji Bunch. Taut and high-energy, the work opens the program with driving momentum and a contemporary sense of intensity.
