Overview
The James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home, nestled in the heart of the historic Lockerbie neighborhood, is a true preservation of the Victorian home in which the great Hoosier Poet lived for the last twenty-three years of his life. The Museum Home opened to the public in 1922, and has been sharing Riley’s legacy and impact in Indiana and the connection to Riley Hospital for Children. Take an individual or group tour of the Museum Home that features original furnishings, ornate décor, beautiful hand painted ceilings, and more. Guests will learn about Riley’s life as the Hoosier Poet and how his legacy created what we now know as Riley Hospital for Children.
Are you looking for a unique venue for your next social event or business meeting? The Museum Home features a visitor center with indoor/outdoor space consisting of a walk-out patio through French doors. The preserved Home is nestled on the idyllic grounds surrounded by mature trees, beautiful lawn and gardens, and cobblestone streets. Depending on the indoor/outdoor set-up, event requirements and more, the Museum Home hosts events anywhere from 5 guests up to 200 guests.
