There’s a buzz in the air—and it’s not because we will soon hear IndyCars speeding around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway track. It’s the energy of a city on track to become the heart of women’s sports in America, led by the powerhouse women of the Indiana Fever.

Let’s start with the Fever: 41 of their 44 games will be nationally broadcast this season—more than any NBA team. With the arrival of Caitlin Clark and a stacked 2025 roster, the team is generating serious hype. Cities like Baltimore, Chicago, Atlanta, and Dallas are even expanding their venues just to meet the demand when the Fever coming to play.

But if you want to feel the real energy? You’ve got to be in Indy.

A Full-Court Press on Women’s Sports

The city’s love for women’s sports extends well beyond the court. This year, Indy welcomed Indy Ignite, a brand-new professional women’s volleyball team competing in the Pro Volleyball Federation—and they’re already ranked in the top 5 nationally. Add in our hosting of marquee collegiate events like the recent Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament and the upcoming Women’s Water Polo Championships this May, and it's clear: Indy is making HERstory.

Plan Your Visit Around These Can't-Miss Moments

If you want to celebrate and experience the current movement that is happening in women’s sports, look no further than Indy. Here are some reasons why the city known as a major sports hub should be your next stop:

The Indy 500 is around the corner with practice kicking off May 13—just days before the Fever’s home opener on May 24. That weekend? AES 500 Festival Parade + a Fever game + the Greatest Spectacle in Racing = a triple crown of Indy experiences. Be sure to check out the newly renovated Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, where you can learn about trailblazers like Janet Guthrie, the first woman to compete in the 500.

All eyes will be on Indy this summer when the WNBA All-Star Game comes to town. Pacers Sports & Entertainment is teaming up with Kevin Hart to throw a weekend-long celebration with comedy, music, and a city-wide digital scavenger hunt for fans to explore basketball-themed landmarks and attractions.

This $30 million outdoor space next to Gainbridge Fieldhouse is more than just a pretty plaza—it’s home to year-round events, a full-size basketball court, giveaways, and family-friendly programming. Swing by Commission Row, a sleek, three-story dining and entertainment venue, for a post-game meal or drink.

Whether you’re traveling solo or with the fam, there’s no shortage of fun in Indy. The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis (the world’s largest!) is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary, with interactive exhibits where young girls can shoot hoops on a Fever-inspired court or throw passes on the Colts’ turf. Don’t miss murals of Tamika Catchings and Caitlin Clark—perfect for a photo op!

From steakhouse classics to James Beard-nominated favorites like Milktooth and Bluebeard, Indy’s food scene delivers. And for a more relaxed vibe, stop by Tea’s Me Café, a community-focused tea shop owned by Tamika Catchings, where empowerment is served alongside your Earl Grey.

The Future Is Female—and It’s Here

Indy isn’t slowing down. With $3 billion in tourism-related infrastructure underway—including a new $78 million Indiana Fever Sports Performance Center set to open in 2027—the momentum is real. Major events are already locked in, like the 2026 Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament and the 2028 NCAA Women’s Final Four across Divisions I, II, and III.

And if you're still not convinced Indy is having a moment, Caitlin Clark was featured in an episode of David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. A spotlight for Clark, is a spotlight for women’s sports—and a spotlight on Indy.
