October 15–18, the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center will transform into the center of the competitive culinary world as the World Food Championships return to Indianapolis for a third consecutive year.
Known as the world’s largest multi-category Food Sport competition, the World Food Championships, will bring together more than 400 championship teams representing dozens of states and countries. Competitors will put their skills, creativity and composure to the test while pursuing more than $400,000 in prize money—and the coveted title of World Food Champion.

The 2026 competition will span 10 categories: Bacon, Barbecue, Burger, Chef, Dessert, Live Fire, Noodle, Sandwich, Seafood and Vegetarian. Qualifying rounds will take place October 15 and 16, leading to the final rounds on Championship Sunday, October 18.
Expect high stakes, bold flavors and the kind of pressure-packed moments usually reserved for the biggest sporting events.
Since the World Food Championships moved to Indianapolis in 2024, Indiana chefs have established themselves as serious contenders on the global stage. Cunningham Restaurant Group Chef Collin Hilton won the Noodle Category Championship in 2024 before going on to earn the overall World Food Champion title—and a $150,000 prize—in 2025.
Indianapolis-area talent continued its winning streak at the 2025 championships, when Circle City Sweets owner Cindy Hawkins captured the Dessert Championship and Ivy Tech Community College instructor Daniel McDonald earned the Bacon Championship.
The championship rounds are only part of the experience. Visitors can also enjoy four days of chef demonstrations, live entertainment and interactive culinary activities throughout the fairgrounds.
