Exciting Progress on Signia by Hilton and ICC Expansion
Construction is well underway on the 143,500-square-foot Indiana Convention Center expansion, including a 50,000-sq.-ft. ballroom, that will connect to a new 800-room Signia by Hilton, creating an unrivaled convention package. The new property will stand 38 stories tall and will include a top-level bar with skyline views. This project is anticipated to open fall 2026.
Indy already touts the most hotels and hotel rooms connected by enclosed skywalks into a center in the U.S., and this expansion will boost those numbers to 12 properties and 5,100+ hotel rooms all under one roof.
Signia by Hilton: Reaching New Heights
Construction milestones for Signia continue at an impressive pace:
- As of this date, the elevator shaft has been completed up to the 25th floor.
- The glass panels wrapping the hotel are currently being installed and have now reached the 16h floor. Passersby can easily imagine the sleek, modern look the hotel will have upon completion while work on the 17th floor begins.
ICC Expansion: Elevating the Convention Experience
The Indiana Convention Center (ICC) expansion is progressing steadily:
- Work has begun on part of Floor 2, where the Grand Ballroom will take shape, promising to be a premier event space for future conventions and gatherings.
Georgia Street: A New Vision for Downtown
The west block of Georgia Street is undergoing a transformation into a vibrant, park-like setting, enhancing the downtown experience for both locals and visitors. Key updates include:
- Project completion is targeted for March 2026, just in time for the NCAA Men’s Final Four.
- Georgia Street will be permanently closed to vehicular traffic from Illinois to Capitol. Temporary accommodations will be made for church access during this transition.
- The north-side sidewalk of Georgia Street will remain open, ensuring pedestrian access between Illinois and Capitol and on to the Glass Cube of the Indiana Convention Center.
Looking Ahead
With major progress on Signia, the ICC expansion, and Georgia Street’s revitalization, the Pan Am construction project is steadily shaping the future of Indianapolis. Stay tuned for more updates as we move closer to completion!
