A Spring Tradition Returns to Indy at the Manor on Meridian
Those familiar Show House signs are back, pointing the way to one of Indy’s favorite spring traditions. This year’s home, the Manor on Meridian, blends historic charm with fresh design inspiration, all while supporting a meaningful local cause.
The first signs of spring in Indianapolis are literal signs… little white signs atop posts that line the streets of historically affluent Indianapolis neighborhoods that read “Past Decorators’ Show House”. These signs pop up leading up to the weeks that the Annual St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Decorators’ Show House & Gardens home is open to the public to tour.
While these signs point out homes and the year that they were the crown jewel of the St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild, this year, the Decorators’ Show House is a home dubbed The Manor on Meridian.
There are many reasons you should visit the Decorators’ Show House & Gardens; perhaps you'd like to peek inside a historic Meridian-Kessler manor, or get decorating and design inspiration from Indiana's top design experts and firms, or enjoy a unique outing with friends, or support an important local cause.
Peek Inside a Historic Meridian-Kessler Home
Built in 1930, the Manor on Meridian is one of Indianapolis’ early “spec” homes, built before a specific buyer was secured. Over the years, several owners have expanded and updated the home, including the Hart family, who added a second story above the garage to create more bedrooms and bathroom space for their nine children.
The current owners, the home’s eighth, completed a significant renovation in 2017, including enlarging the kitchen, expanding the family room, and adding a second staircase. Today, the Tudor-style home offers about 5,700 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.
Be Inspired By Talented Creatives
More than twenty interior designers, decorators, landscape architects, artists, and home professionals each take on different rooms and outdoor spaces on the property with the goal of creating an experience in that space. You’ll see special touches that include and go beyond wallpaper, paint, furniture, lighting, rugs, window treatments, artwork, and accessories.

Many designers use pieces from their own collections, and the tour guides in the home share the stories behind the details. Additionally, in the case of the Manor on Meridian, they are also solving real design challenges, like making historic spaces feel fresh, improving flow, adding warmth, or showing how a nearly 100-year-old home can still feel stylish and livable for a modern family.
It’s An Outing, It’s A Tradition
Many visitors make the Decorators’ Show House a tradition, and you’ll see couples, groups of friends, organizations, mothers and daughters, sisters, and neighbors attending year after year. In addition to regular hours to visit the home, there are special events like VIP Twilight Tours, Mahjong at the Manor, Passport to Wine Guided Tastings, Yoga, and a Charcuterie class.
At the end of the tour, there are boutique shopping opportunities, tents with food and beverages available for sale, and plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy the backyard of a beautiful, historic home.
Tour With A Purpose
St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild is a volunteer organization in Indianapolis dedicated to raising funds for Eskenazi Health's services and programs. Founded in 1907, the Guild began with a mission to help children at City Hospital, which is now Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. The Decorators’ Show House & Gardens event is their signature event and fundraiser, and this is the 65th year for this benefit. Over the years, St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild has donated more than $14 million to support patients and healthcare professionals at Indianapolis’ public hospital.

Proceeds from this year's Decorators’ Show House help fund St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild’s three-year pledge for the Gregory S. Fehribach Center, which works to advance employment equity for college and university students with physical disabilities.
