Flowers, Fashion, and Fall Finds in Indy
Flowers for your table, a new favorite outfit, and gifts worth saving for later are all waiting at local shops near downtown.
Fall gives me a reason to slow down and step inside. Some of my favorite shopping stops are just beyond the busiest blocks, tucked into neighborhoods where browsing can easily turn into an afternoon out. If you’re looking for a fresh bouquet, something to wear as the weather cools, or a gift with a little more personality, here are some of my favorite few places to start.
Bring Something Home
At Stomping Ground in Windsor Park, it’s easy to come in for flowers and leave with a houseplant, a card, or a gift you’ll want to keep for yourself. The shop's outdoor yard holds sprawling offering of mums, hanging plants, and pumpkins. Over at the Stutz, Grounded Plant & Floral Co. pairs fresh flowers and plants with carefully chosen goods for your space.
Find Your Fall Look
Fall shopping feels better when you find a piece you haven’t seen everywhere else. In Fountain Square, Zodiac Vintage has a mix of vintage and designer clothing, with pieces spanning decades of style. You can make a few more stops along Virginia Avenue while you’re in Fountain Square, then head to Mass Ave for Francis + Fern, a boutique with apparel, accessories, and gifts.
Farther up Mass Ave, Feelin’ Fine carries clothing and accessories you won’t find everywhere else. The boutique also provides job training and employment opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, giving you another reason to feel good about what you find there.
Pick Up a Gift, Even Without an Occasion
I always appreciate a shop where I can find something for a friend without having a specific gift in mind. Goldie & Company in Fountain Square has an assortment of Hoosier-made art, ceramics, fall candles, and more. On Mass Ave, Decorate Indianapolis is a home decor and gift shop full of pieces that reward a closer look. Think that perfect fall-themed throw pillow. For self-care products and locally made gifts, add Salt & Ash Market in the Factory Arts District to your list.
You don’t need to cover every neighborhood in one day. Pick a shop that catches your eye, leave time to wander, and see what you find. That’s my favorite kind of fall afternoon in Indy.
