Celebrating Record-Breaking Tourism

In Visit Indy's 102-year history, there has never been a year like 2024. The city and region welcomed more visitors than ever before while also setting a record for future convention business booked during the year.

With success comes momentum. Visit Indy and our partners plan to ride that momentum in 2025 and beyond. The city is growing as the Pan Am Plaza expansion starts to reshape the city's skyline. The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is celebrating 100 years of enchanting families. A completely reimagined Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum opens it's doors this spring. And, the WNBA All-Star game brings the stars of the game to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in July.

Visit Indy's State of Tourism stands as an opportunity to celebrate the past and prepare the future. We want to thank the industry partners and community leaders who contribute to and value the power of tourism. None of it works if we don't do it together.

Get excited because the future is bright and together we will continue to push record results in 2025. #IYKYK.

Bill McGowan Tourism Leadership Award

Each year Visit Indy bestows the Bill McGowan Leadership Award to an individual or organization that has advocated for, promoted, or positively influenced the city's image. The award pays homage to the late Bill McGowan who served as CEO of the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association (known today as Visit Indy) from 1984 to 2002. Bill's visionary leadership set a foundation for success that the city's tourism industry benefits from today.

In 2025, the Bill McGowan Leadership Award was given to the Indiana Fever for their profound impact on driving tourism and uplifting women's sports.
