Overview
This concert is part of the Indy Folk Series 25th anniversary season.
Three young, talented Indiana singer-songwriters team up for an “in-the-round” performance in which they share their individual talents with the audience and with each other. Some of the voices will be new and others may be familiar, but each presents a fresh, dynamic take on the folk idiom. Molly Milton is an original singer-songwriter from Indianapolis who is gifted with a beautiful voice and a dedication to her craft. Her debut CD was recorded and released in 2022, and since then Molly has become a beloved performer on the Indianapolis music scene.
Spenser Johns is a 20 year old singer-songwriter who began writing and performing live in 2020. She started writing original music in the 8th grade and is self-taught on the guitar, piano, and ukulele. Her music explores pop, rock, country, and indie music with a storyteller’s style, and she performs it all in her own unique and soulful voice.
Indy native Sarah Grain, who normally fronts her band The Billions of Stars, is giving a rare solo performance for this show. Ever since she found an old guitar in her parents’ attic at age 15, she’s been pairing her original poetry with music to encompass a wide spectrum of genres including folk, bossa nova, rock, jazz, and Americana. Sarah’s voice brings her heart and soul to every performance.
