Overview
With numerous consecutive Beatport number ones, millions of streams, and collaborations and remixes with artists such as Kayzo, Excision, Polaris, and Erra under his belt, few can deny that PhaseOne is one of the most significant talents to emerge from the Australian music scene, sitting squarely at the intersection where metal meets electronic.
Bursting onto the scene in 2013, PhaseOne quickly carved out a niche in the hardline electronic music landscape. His music has been described as “a symphony of filth,” and they’re not wrong. As a producer, guitarist, and songwriter, PhaseOne expertly crafts a sound that seamlessly blends the intensity of metal with the power of bass music.
PhaseOne first made waves with two chart-topping EPs, Touching The Stars and Matter Of Time, both of which dominated Beatport’s #1 spot for multiple weeks. With his distinct sound catching the ears of bass music’s elite, he signed exclusively to Disciple Recordings in January 2017. From there he released a string of highly acclaimed EPs and a ream of viral singles that cemented his reputation as one of the most exciting and forward-thinking figures in the scene.
In 2019, PhaseOne released his first full-length album, Transcendency. The ambitious project saw him reconnect with his metal roots, featuring collaborations with bands such as Northlane, Thy Art is Murder, and Periphery, as well as exciting link-ups with Subtronics, Modestep, and hip-hop legends Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. The album became a landmark release in the cross-pollination of heavy music and bass, further elevating his global profile.
