Overview
This concert is part of the Indy Folk Series 25th anniversary season.
Longtime fans of the Indy Folk Series will fondly recall Krista Detor’s past performances, including a memorable holiday show last year in which she paired up with her husband David Weber and other bandmates. Running the gamut from sardonic wit to soul-bearing confession, her songs convey a sincerity and talent that critics have called “soul-punching.”
Krista’s musical accolades and achievements are legion. Her collaborative work ‘Wilderness Plots’ was recognized by both houses of the Indiana legislature for Contributions to the Arts. In addition to her many solo and collaborative albums, she composed the score for The Breeze Bends the Grass, a play about the lives of four women artists in the early 20th century, for which she was awarded an ‘Indiana Masterpieces’ grant by the Indiana Arts Commission.
And while she is well appreciated on her home turf of Indiana, Krista’s fans span the globe: She was the only American woman invited to The BBC’s Darwin Songhouse Project in Shrewsbury England, and she has been commissioned to write musical theatre for The American Embassy School in New Delhi, India.
Never one to stay idle, In 2020, she and David Weber launched The Hundredth Hill Artist Residence and Retreat on their 50-acre homestead in Monroe County.
Her performance this year includes a full band, with new material as well as beloved songs from her past catalogue.
