Overview
Harpsichordist Tom Gerber explores Italian keyboard music and its attraction to Johann Sebastian Bach. Works by Giovanni Picchi, Michelangelo Rossi, and Girolamo Frescobaldi reveal colorful influences on Bach, even coming from as far back as the early 17th Century. Antonio Vivaldi’s concertos are a contemporaneous attraction to the great German master, inspiring the solo-harpsichord Bach-Vivaldi transcriptions, such as the Concertos in G, BWV 973, and B Minor, BWV 979.
