For over seven decades, Amalia Hernández’s Ballet Folklórico de México has positioned itself as the most emblematic folkloric dance ensemble in Mexico and around the world. Founded by dancer/choreographer Hernandez in 1952, the Ballet Folklórico de México has revolutionized the world of traditional Mexican dance, laying the groundwork and setting the tone for thousands of dance troupes in Mexico and abroad. Their work is inspired by her in-depth research into Mexico’s regional dance styles, music, costuming and customs.
