Overview
When Larry Griggers in the early 1990s asked Ruth's Chris founder Ruth Fertel to grant him a franchise in Indianapolis, Fertel said no way. She didn't think Hoosiers would go for the a la carte menu that requires steaks and side dishes to be ordered separately. Griggers persisted, and Hoosiers proved Fertel wrong. Today, Ruth’s Chris Downtown Indianapolis is one of the best performing and highest rated locations in the Ruth’s Chris system, and it remains locally owned and operated.
Ruth’s Chris serves USDA Prime steaks--only the top 2 percent of beef graded by the USDA. Chefs prepare your steak in an 1,800-degree broiler, searing in its natural flavor. Then it’s served sizzling on a 500-degree plate, so that your steak stays hot and flavorful from first bite to last.
Open the dinner menu and you’ll find classic favorites like the Petite Filet, Cowboy Ribeye or Lamb Chops. Look further and you’ll find locally sourced, exclusive items created by our Executive Chef David Bradley including fresh seafood. You’ll also find Ruth’s New Orleans-inspired items like crab cakes, barbecued shrimp, garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach.
Ruth’s Chris Downtown also has a relaxed yet elegant bar with nightly live piano entertainment.
