Remarkable performances, extraordinary prizes and a festival atmosphere characterize the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis (IVCI) as "the ultimate violin contest..." writes the Chicago Tribune.Laureates of "The Indianapolis" have emerged as outstanding artists in concert halls across the globe.
For seventeen days every four years, Indianapolis is the most important place to be if you are a rising violin talent. Forty of the world's brightest talents have been selected from an initial applicant pool of 179 violinists to come to Indianapolis to perform some of the most beautiful music ever written before enthusiastic audiences. The 9th Quadrennial Competition will take place from September 5-21, 2014. The repertory of the IVCI established an especially broad survey of the violin at performances throughout the city including the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center and Hilbert Circle Theatre, where finalist perform with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to the quadrennial Competition and its performances, accompanying exhibits and presentations, the IVCI sponsors an annual concert series. This Laureate Series features prize winners of past competitions and special quests. For detailed concert information you can visit our website.
