Overview
The Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra (IJO) is Indiana's premier professional repertory big band jazz emsemble. Featuring outstanding professional musicians and vocalists from Central Indiana, the IJO was created to preserve and advance the rich and dynamic history of the big band. Patterned after many well-known bands, both past and present, the IJO is committed to performing world-class musical arrangments based on classic hit tunes from the Great American Songbook. The IJO presents numerous concerts and shows in Indianapolis and throughout Indiana based on various popular musical themes and saluting great historical big bands and famous American songwriters.
