Overview
Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra advances and promotes music composed for the small orchestra through concert performances, community collaborations and educational programs under the direction of Maestro Matthew Kraemer. Delivering Intimate, Classic and Original experiences, Central Indiana’s premiere professional chamber orchestra proudly serves as orchestra-in-residence at the Schrott Center for the Arts, Butler Arts Center and broadcasts a weekly radio program on the Indianapolis public radio station, WFYI 90.1. In 2016 Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra premiered Peacemakers, an 80-minute “filmic oratorio” by ICO Composer-In-Residence James Aikman featuring portraits in music and pictures celebrating the legacy of world figures who worked toward peace. The work was featured in Symphony Magazine and an Emmy Award-winning documentary televised on WFYI.
On any given weekend, you may find Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra performing with locally based performing arts organizations, like American Pianists Association, International Violin Competition, and Indianapolis Symphonic Choir or producing its own concert programs featuring new engaging works and beloved masterworks for chamber orchestras.
