Our Purpose: IPAC’s purpose is to keep alive the spirit of Black Theatre by offering top-notch, performances, employment opportunities, children’s theatre, educational programs and community outreach in all aspects of theatrical productions.
Our Commitment: IPAC is committed to providing arts education programs that promote life-long learning to a diverse community; and to change the face of Indianapolis theatre. IPAC will continue to increase its diversity in theatrical performances and provide access to the arts.
Mission:
The mission of the Indiana Performing Arts Centre (IPAC) is to produce professional theatre that promotes and celebrates the African-American experience, attracts diverse audiences, supports and develops African-American artists, builds the capabilities and self-esteem of African-American youth, and showcases African-American talent. We are increasing platforms and opportunities to perform with excellence, pride, and respect for Black heritage.Driving Factor:
We are further motivated by the disparities in performance opportunities and training that exist for Black individuals and organizations in performing arts. We educate, enlighten, and empower youth and adults to have access in arts programming. We provide the professional experience to showcase their talents. We offer performances and surrounding activities that broaden the exposure and appeal of African-American culture by:- celebrating the culture, history, spirit and voices of people of color.
- providing a permanent home for artists of color that enables those artists to explore, experience and present a wide-ranging variety of dramatic programs reflecting significant African-American literary, artistic, and cultural achievements.
- providing theatre and life skills training to traditionally underserved populations.
- educating and engaging audiences to foster and understanding among people of all cultural backgrounds.
- expanding our outreach beyond Indianapolis to the tri-state region of Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky.
