Deeply rooted in the White family’s legacy, Dean’s reflects a tradition of hospitality and strong ties to Indiana. The restaurant’s art collection, carefully curated from the family’s personal archives, adds a meaningful layer of storytelling and warmth, making this new steakhouse a distinctive destination.
Fifteen years ago, White Lodging redefined downtown Indianapolis’ hospitality landscape by topping out construction on what was then the world’s largest JW Marriott and remains the city’s largest hotel. That bold vision brought a new level of luxury to the center of Indianapolis and sparked a wave of development that reshaped the city skyline. Today, that legacy of excellence continues with the flagship launch of Dean’s Steak & Seafood.
Replacing the former OP Italian, Dean’s Steak & Seafood will undergo a complete transformation—from concept to design—marking a bold evolution of the JW Marriott’s food and beverage program. This reimagined space will feature seating for approximately 160 in the main dining room, 25 in a private dining space, and 50 across its lively cocktail and oyster bars. Interiors will evoke the spirit of a timeless steakhouse, with rich dark woods, brass metal accents, and a dramatic, monochromatic palette. Thoughtfully color-blocked with deep reds and saturated blues, the design creates an inviting balance of comfort and elegance.
With award-winning locations in Charlotte, Austin, and San Antonio, Dean’s Steakhouse now arrives in Indianapolis, poised to become the signature gem of the collection. Thoughtfully designed as a modern interpretation of the classic American steakhouse, Dean’s will offer an exceptional dining experience featuring expertly prepared prime cuts (including American, Australian and Japanese Wagyu), a beautifully curated oyster bar, a distinguished wine list showcasing rare and vintage selections, and a standout cocktail program.
