Overview
Downtown Indianapolis is once again the setting for beautiful waterfront weddings and special events with the opening of Canal Pointe. This historic venue, which once served as a home for the congregation of Buggs Temple, an important part of the Black community near the Indiana Avenue neighborhood, is located at the north end of the Downtown Canal. Under the management of the locally owned Pavilion 360 Event Group, the venue has been elegantly refreshed and refurbished. Once known at Canal 337 and, before that, the Creation Café, Canal Pointe offers a unique and desirable location for weddings, business meetings, special occasions and curated events.
“We are so pleased to add Canal Pointe to our event venue portfolio,” said Cebronica Luft, co- owner of Pavilion 360 Events Group. “The location is ideal for events ranging in size from 15-400 with a special emphasis on weddings, corporate and social events. My partners and I were attracted to this beautiful waterfront oasis, which is within walking distance of so many downtown hotels and entertainment spots. We’re thrilled to re-energize this great space along the beautiful Downtown Canal Walk and the IU Health campus.”
During the pandemic, Canal 337 owners sold the property to IU Health. Last year, amidst the continued growth of the IU School of Medicine, officials put the management and operations out for bid and the Pavilion 360Events Group stepped forward.
Upon arrival, guests are met with this picturesque three-story venue, highlighted by ornate hardwoods and exposed wood beams. Two outdoor verandas overlook the Canal basin and landscaped gardens, providing a stunning backdrop of the Downtown skyline. Canal Pointe offers both indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces for groups ranging from 15 to 400. Leaders from Pavilion 360 Event Group have also explored the potential of Canal Pointe for hosting civic and other events, highlighting the advantage of the expansive, nearby Canal Walk that surrounds the north end of the Canal.
Beyond the venue, Pavilion Events Group provides Indiana’s most comprehensive catalog of lighting, staging, audio, linens, tables, chairs, bar services, entertainment, and technology, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience. Canal Pointe is now available for bookings for the remainder of the year and after. Interested couples and planners can visit the venue’s website at www.canalpointeindy.com.
