Birch Bayh Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse
Overview
The Federal Building is located just south of University Park. Created by John Massey Rhind in 1905, four figures symbolizing Literature, Agriculture, Justice and Industry adorn the exterior of this 1905 Beaux Arts-style building. It was built to house Federal courts, offices and the main city post office. The exterior is of Indiana limestone and is detailed in neoclassical style.
