IMS Museum Named One of Time’s Greatest Places for 2026
A global spotlight is shining on one of Indy’s most iconic attractions.
Located inside the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the museum celebrates more than a century of racing history with one of the world’s most impressive collections of race cars, artifacts, photographs, trophies, and interactive exhibits. Visitors can see iconic Indy 500 winners, explore legendary moments in motorsports, and connect with the stories that helped shape the Racing Capital of the World.
In April 2025, the museum reopened after a major renovation, welcoming guests back to a reimagined space with expanded galleries, immersive experiences like the Starting Line Experience, and new hands-on elements for all ages. The update added 40,000 square feet of exhibit space that allows guests to go deeper into racing tradition than ever before.
