Georgia Street Now Open
A new outdoor space has opened in the heart of Indy’s convention district. The Georgia Street Promenade gives planners more room to gather, celebrate and bring their events into the city.
After years in the making, a new pedestrian-only stretch of Georgia Street is open outside the Indiana Convention Center. The promenade’s west block, between Capitol Avenue and Illinois Street, brings seating, greenery and space for performances to the center of Indy’s convention district.
For meeting planners, it adds an outdoor setting alongside the Indiana Convention Center expansion and the new Signia by Hilton Indianapolis. Attendees will be able to step out of the convention center and gather on Georgia Street, with the Omni Severin Hotel nearby. Future phases are planned to carry the promenade east toward Gainbridge Fieldhouse and the forthcoming Ritz-Carlton Indianapolis, creating an even stronger connection across downtown.
The promenade offers four spaces with different possibilities for events. The Garden is the largest, with room for a tent and stage among turf, trees and seasonal florals. The Terrace also accommodates a tent and stage in a smaller paver-lined setting. The Lawn offers a casual turf space with room for a tent, while The Grove provides an open-air setting surrounded by trees and boulders.
