Free Summer Programming Along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail
Want to spend more time outdoors? Eager to explore Indianapolis, but need to keep things budget-friendly? The Indianapolis Cultural Trail has you covered.
Now through the end of summer, the Indianapolis Cultural Trail is hosting numerous FREE programs for Hoosiers and visitors of all ages and abilities. All along the 10-mile trail, you can experience the city through free rides, group walks, live music events, and fitness classes.
Mondays
Bike and Bootcamp, 6-7 p.m., Downtown Canal: Combine cardio and strength training during this dynamic fitness class that starts and ends at the Orange Bridge. Bring your own bike or borrow one from a Pacers Bikeshare station! Register here.
Tuesdays
Lunch at Lugar, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Lugar Plaza: Each week, two to three food trucks will be parked on Delaware Street. Grab a quick bite and enjoy the plaza during your lunch break.
Landscape & Lagers: Got a green thumb? From 5-7 p.m. every Tuesday through October, help take care of the Cultural Trail’s landscape. The Trail provides the tools … and the beverages!
Tuesday Run, 5:30 p.m., Cultural Trail Headquarters: All paces and ages are welcome to attend these scenic run/walks along the canal. The standard route is about three miles, but different routes are available. Afterward, hang out with fellow runners at Brew Link Brewpub.
Yoga on the Canal, 6 p.m., Downtown Canal: This beginner-friendly class is taught by a certified instructor from The Hot Room and is perfect for those looking to take their practice to a tranquil outdoor oasis. Register in advance and be sure to BYOM – bring your own mat!
Wednesdays
HITT IT on the Canal: 5:30 p.m., Orange Bridge: Get ready for a heart-pumping workout. Every Wednesday, join José Leigh of Wiñay Kallpa for a powerful mix of cardio and body-weight HITT exercises designed for all fitness levels.
Canal Calm: Monthly Sound Bath, 7-8 p.m., Downtown Canal: Immerse yourself in soothing vibrations on the second Wednesday of every month. Bring your own mat, blanket, or towel and let The Hot Room guide you to a state of relaxation. Registration is encouraged.
Thursdays
Sunrise Yoga on the Canal, 6:30-7:30 a.m., Downtown Canal: Enjoy the fresh morning air as you stretch, breathe, and flow through a dynamic yoga sequence led by instructors from The Hot Room. Bring your own mat and meet at the north end of the canal.
No Spandex Required Ride, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Cultural Trail Headquarters: These 4- to 10-mile leisurely group bike rides explore different greenways, neighborhoods, and trails. Each ride also includes a stop at a local brewery to rest and socialize.
Pilates on the Plaza, 6-7 p.m., Downtown Canal: Get ready to sweat, stretch, and strengthen your body. Every Thursday, instructors from The Hot Room will lead a class designed for all fitness levels. Don’t forget to bring your own mat and register ahead of time.
Select Few Sessions, 7 p.m., Orange Bridge: On the third Thursday of every month, swing by the Orange Bridge for live music and lively conversation. The series spotlights local musicians and includes exclusive artist interviews hosted by Troy Track Select.
Fridays
Viernes Cultural, 7-10 p.m., Lugar Plaza: On the last Friday of every month, celebrate Latin culture with live music, dancing (and dance lessons!), and food and beverages. This family-friendly event is completely free, but RSVPing is encouraged. ¡Hasta pronto!
Saturdays
Roast Ride, 10 a.m., Lugar Plaza: On the second Saturday of every month, join the Cultural Trail and Indianapolis Coffee Guide on a fun-filled, coffee-focused ride. This beginner-friendly ride includes stops at some of the city’s best local coffee shops. It’s sure to satisfy your caffeine cravings! Register here.
Bakes & Bakeries Ride, 10 a.m., Cultural Trail Headquarters: Explore the Trail and some of the city’s best bakeries on the fourth Saturday of every month. Each ride is 4-10 miles long and beginner-friendly. Bring your own bike or borrow one from a Pacers bikeshare station. Don’t forget to register ahead of time!
