Celebrate Spring Break with an Indy Attraction Pass
Maybe you’re visiting Indianapolis for the first time. Or, maybe, you call the city home. Either way, the Indy Attraction Pass can help you build a spring break adventure that fits your family’s pace and interests.
For one low price, you get admission to eight of Indy’s top destinations. Choose either a 1-Day or 3-Day pass and use it to explore your favorite spots … or visit new ones! Ready to start planning? Here’s a closer look at each attraction and what they’ve got scheduled for March.
Tiana's Joyful Celebration
Plan on spending at least half a day at the world’s largest children’s museum, which has five floors of indoor fun. And just in time for spring break? A new exhibit that celebrates Princess Tiana. Tiana’s Joyful Celebration opens March 7 and features the collaborative spirit of New Orleans. Kiddos can decorate parade floats, design costumes, or even join Tiana for a special performance. Laissez les bons temps rouler! (Let the good times roll!)
New Museum Experience Center
If you’ve got an Indy Attraction Pass in hand, be sure to visit Conner Prairie and check out the brand-new Museum Experience Center. Be one of the first to explore six new experiences that delve into the history of the Conner family and the arrival of the first people to Indiana. Wellspring is sure to be a hit, too. The immersive, interactive experience is full of secret passageways, storytelling, and whimsy. The new Museum Experience Center opens at the end of March.
Spring Workshops & Cowboy Couture
The Eiteljorg is well worth a trip downtown (and it’s next door to the Indiana State Museum!). All throughout March, the museum is hosting spring break drop-in activities. Think: printmaking, beading, clay sculptures, and patterned felt design. Kids can also make stamped copper bracelets with Artist-in-Residence JJ Otero (Navajo/Hopi) from 10-11:30 am, March 28. JJ will also be hosting open studios on select days. Stop by and say “hello!” Plus, check out the newest exhibit, Cowboy Couture, featuring western-wear designs by Jerry Lee Atwood.
Indiana Historical Society
One thing that’s great about the Indiana Historical Society is its location–it’s close to the Eiteljorg, the Indiana State Museum, and the downtown canal! Current exhibits include Hoosier Voices from Vietnam and The Electric Railway: Indiana’s Interurbans. You can also register for The Junction, a pizza party on March 19. There will be pizza (obvs), games, and basketball-focused learning. Fees are minimal ($5 for non-members, $3 for students).
Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum
The Indy Attraction Passes also include admission to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, so don’t miss your chance to race out to the track. The museum recently underwent a $60.5 million renovation to enhance visitors’ experiences. Currently, there are two featured exhibits. Setting the Pace highlights the legacy of pace cars, while Now Stay Tuned explores how broadcasting the Indianapolis 500 helped make the race a global phenomenon.
Indiana State Museum
After visiting the Eiteljorg, pop on over to the Indiana State Museum, which is literally next door. It offers top-tier, kid-friendly programming, and there are countless events during the month of March. Visitors of all ages can also immerse themselves in Flowers Forever, an interactive experience that explores the ways flowers shape our lives. Plus, don't miss the newest exhibit for the Spring, Indy A To Z, which goes through 26 items that make Indy, Indy! Keep an eye out for a way to be the "I" in Indy, too.
Indianapolis Zo
Spring into family fun at the Indianapolis Zoo! xZOOberance, the Zoo’s outdoor spring festival, kicks off March 19 and runs from noon to 4 pm, Thursdays through Sundays. It’s the perfect spring break destination, complete with animal meet-and-greets, face painting, a live DJ, karaoke, flower arranging, seasonal treats, and more. In short, the zoo will be buzzing! Check the calendar for the full list of chats, animal encounters, and presentations.
Newfields
From March 18 to May 10, Newfields is in full bloom. Explore the grounds–and revel in the sunshine–as more than 60,000 daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips spring to life. For a tropical oasis bursting with orchids, head to the Madeline F. Elder Greenhouse. The floral extravaganza continues inside the museum with Art in Bloom. Now in its sixth year, Art in Bloom features more than 50 floral installations, as well as workshops and a signature cocktail.
