A Picture-Perfect Day in Fountain Square

Fountain Square is one of Indy’s most colorful neighborhoods, filled with murals, vintage storefronts, locally loved restaurants, and plenty of photo-worthy stops.
After recently moving to Fountain Square, I have quickly learned that one of the best parts of living here is how much there is to discover within a few blocks. From a morning coffee run to an evening out with friends, this neighborhood makes it easy to turn even an ordinary day into an excuse to explore.
Eat and Drink
Fountain Square’s dining scene includes cozy coffee stops, destination-worthy meals, and bars that know how to set a scene.
Bovaconti Coffee
For coffee, Bovaconti Coffee is a Fountain Square favorite known for its hand-painted exterior murals, vintage-inspired interior, and menu of specialty drinks and pastries. Grab a seat inside, order a seasonal latte or pastry, and take in one of the neighborhood’s most recognizable storefronts.
Monti Aperitivo & Cucina
Monti Aperitivo & Cucina overlooks the neighborhood’s historic fountain, serving housemade pasta, brick-fired dishes, and Italian-inspired cocktails in a space that feels right at home along Virginia Avenue. Its dining room and dishes make it an especially beautiful stop before or after exploring the neighborhood.
The Inferno Room
When it's time for drinks, The Inferno Room brings a more playful side of Fountain Square to the table. The tiki bar is filled with tropical details, colorful cocktails, and a lively atmosphere that makes it a fun stop for a night out or a memorable photo.
Shop Local
Fountain Square’s local shops offer thoughtful gifts, one-of-a-kind finds, and plenty of reasons to take your time along Virginia Avenue.
Howl + Hide
Fountain Square’s independent shops are a big part of what gives the neighborhood its character. At Howl + Hide, browse handcrafted leather bags, accessories, and goods made with plenty of Indy personality. It is an easy place to find a gift, pick up something for yourself, or admire the craftsmanship behind every piece.
Snakeroot Botanicals & Indy Reads
Snakeroot Botanicals brings a little greenery to Virginia Avenue, with houseplants, botanical goods, and gifts that make it easy to take a piece of Fountain Square home. Just down the way, Indy Reads is a welcoming bookstore for discovering your next read while supporting adult literacy programs in Indy.
Square Cat Vinyl
Music lovers should also make time for Square Cat Vinyl, where rows of records and an unmistakably local feel make browsing part of the experience. Between each stop, keep an eye out for colorful storefronts, murals, and the small details that make Fountain Square one of Indy’s most photogenic neighborhoods. It's almost like you're transported back to a different era when physical media ruled.
