Get those shopping lists ready — Small Business Saturday is fast approaching. This year, the quintessential American “holiday” takes place Nov. 25. Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday encourages shoppers to skip the big boxes in favor of local shops. Here in Indianapolis, you’ll want to shop small in these five neighborhoods.

Broad Ripple

Start your day by swinging by the Broad Ripple Village Association office and grabbing a free tote bag loaded with swag. You’ll want to visit Indy CD & Vinyl, which is having a huge sale, and Three Dog Bakery, which has free doggie goodie bags to customers who spend at least $25. Supplies are limited, though, so get there early! Shopping starts at 10 a.m.

Fountain Fletcher

More than 30 Fountain Fletcher businesses are celebrating Small Business Saturday. Write a letter to Santa at Tuggle’s or stop by Indy Reads, which will be giving away journals, drawstring bags, and stickers all day long. There are special vendor shows at the Murphy Arts Center and draft, too! Pick up a passport at a participating business and collect 10 stamps for a chance to win a prize package.

Mass Ave

Hit the Avenue for a full day of holiday shopping. Be one of the first 10 customers at a participating business and receive a swag bag full of goodies. Definitely hit up Nap or Nothing and Tomorrow Bookstore, which is having a massive sale. You’ll also want to see the Taylor Swift-themed tree at Francis and Fern before grabbing food at The Garage.

Near Eastside

This Small Business Saturday, explore the Near Eastside. The businesses span Washington, Michigan, and 10th Streets, and are also located in or near Circle City Industrial Complex. Be one of the first 10 shoppers at a participating business — including 8th Day Distillery, Audrey’s Place, Dear Mom, Kan-Kan Cinema, Rabble Coffee, and Stomping Ground — to get a free “I love the Near Eastside” tote bag.

The Stutz

This former factory will be hopping all day long. In the morning, attend a yoga flow and meditation at Myriad Yoga for $20. Then visit Grounded Plant & Floral Co. and Patachou, which is running its annual “Buy $100, get $20” gift card offer. Another must-visit? WDFRA, a combo streetwear-activewear brand. They plan to have a DJ from 5-9 p.m. in the Stutz Maker’s Alley.
