The Talking Wall sculpture on the Indiana University-Purdue University campus along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick is the creation of Indiana artist Bernard Williams.
The sculpture is the result of extensive community conversations facilitated by the Arts Council to create an artwork honoring Indianapolis’ African American community. Talking Wallfeatures symbols representing key aspects of African American history in the city. The painted steel sculpture measures an impressive 12 feet high and 20 feet long.
Funding for the artwork was provided by the Central Indiana Community Foundation and the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick. The project is an initiative of the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee and the Arts Council of Indianapolis, with additional support from IUPUI.
