The festival is one of the oldest festivals in the state of Indiana and one of the largest events in Speedway each year. Known as the festival “That’s Tops in Food,” the parish takes great pride in making nearly all the items served from scratch right in our own kitchen. From the hand battered Icelandic cod to the macaroni and cheese; we have the tastiest recipes to prove it. However our greatest recipe is the blending of over 1,200 volunteers who come together to continue our tradition of excellence.
Our claim to fame is our hand battered fish sandwiches. Each year volunteers hand batter more than two tons of Icelandic cod. Our homemade BBQ & coney sauces are made from the original 1940s recipes. Side dishes include potato salad, macaroni & cheese, baked beans, deviled eggs, and cole slaw. Our Filipino community will have authentic Filipino food including egg rolls, kebabs, and fried rice. The roasted corn booth will feature sweet corn with baked & sweet potatoes, brats, grilled hot dogs, and macaroni-and-cheese-stuffed cheeseburgers. Our baking committee will produce approximately 600 cakes and 500 fruit and cream pies, Parish-made elephant ears and strawberry shortcake will be available.
In addition to the wide variety of foods, there will be two beer gardens featuring local and domestic beers and wines for your enjoyment.
Our midway features amusement rides by Poor Jack. We have a wide variety of rides for the young and young at heart! Our youth group will provide a variety of kids' games including the ever popular gold fish pond. A staple of the 1940s and 1950s festival will return with pony rides and a petting zoo. Bingo will be played each evening with instant bingo tickets available for purchase. Our Monte Carlo (18 and over) will have you singing “Viva St. Christopher” as we feature a blackjack tournament each night with roulette, let it ride, Texas poker, craps table, and a vintage “Horse Race Wheel” that has been entertaining festival goers since the 1940s
