Santa Claus is a popular guy and when he visits Indianapolis a regular old reindeer and sleigh just will not do. This man knows what Indy wants he does all he can to get the attention of the crowd.
Santa’s big arrival at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis on Friday, November 27, will be met with squeals of laughter and squeals of tires as he races in on a 2-seater racecar driven by Verizon IndyCar Series owner and driver, Ed Carpenter. This high speed "Indy Sleigh" is exactly what the crowd wants to see as Santa's special police and elf escort leads the way. Watching Santa's arrival is free. From 8:30 am - 10 am, get one free youth admission with the purchase of an adult admission. Activities begin at 8:30 am; Santa arrives at 9:15 am.
The front lawn of the Indiana State Museum is one of the most popular places to be on Friday, November 27. At noon, Santa will land on the lawn in a helicopter. With elves waiting on the roof to spot him high in the sky, he’ll make his way through the Indianapolis skyline and greet his adoring fans. Mrs. Claus will arrive in a Model T. Children and families will then make their way into the Museum to visit with the man in red and pose for photos. Greeting Santa on the lawn is free, activities in the museum following his arrival are included in admission.
On Saturday, November 28, Santa will make his way back to Indy by way of the Indianapolis International Airport. Don’t be fooled, Santa won’t arrive by air, he’ll ride in on the tarmac aboard a fire truck! Santa’s arrival is scheduled for 11 am but arrive early to get a great spot at the window to watch. He’ll make his way up to the Civic Plaza to meet with all of the good girls and boys. Visitors will get a photo with Santa, enjoy face painting, balloon art, glitter tattoos, and entertainment. It's all free! Be sure to register when you arrive to receive a free parking pass. The festivities take place until 2 pm.
Saturday, December 12, Rowdie, the beloved Indianapolis Indians mascot will arrive as Rowdie Claus. He'll meet his favorite fans in the Victory Field Suite Lounge 10 am to 2 pm. Families can pose for free photos, create arts and crafts, and enjoy hot chocolate and snacks. Shop for team gear for your little and big fans. Parking is free and canned food donations for Wheeler Mission are appreciated.
Throughout the season, the big guy in red will make appearances throughout town, many children visiting Monument Circle to drop off their Santa letters or look at the beautiful lights, have bumped into Santa on his motorcycle.
