The Program for Intensive English (PIE) provides English language training to non-native speakers. ESL classes at the PIE are in seven levels, from beginner through advanced. Our student body includes international visitors to Indianapolis, U.S. permanent residents and citizens, as well as international students.
Located on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and situated within the School of Liberal Arts, PIE offers students access to all the resources and activities of IUPUI's vibrant urban campus. Classes meet during the day, Monday through Friday. Visitors, permanent residents, citizens, and those with any kind of visa other than F-1 may study either full-time or part-time.
We offer six sessions throughout the year with start dates in August, October, January, March, May and June. Sessions beginning in August, October, January, and March are eight weeks in length. Sessions beginning in May and June are six weeks in length. With small class sizes (8-15 students) and teachers who have masters degrees or advanced certificates in teaching English to non-native speakers, the PIE is well situated to provide outstanding, targeted instruction to English language learners, whether they study for personal enrichment, career advancement, or to achieve proficiency for university study in the U.S.
