No need to travel to Washington, D.C. this Easter. A longstanding White House tradition that dates back to 1878 can be enjoyed right here in Indianapolis at the home of Indiana’s only U.S. president, Benjamin Harrison. While in the White House, Harrison was the first to add music to the egg rolling celebration in 1889 with the United States Marine Band.
The presidential egg roll is an Easter celebration where children race to roll their decorated egg through the grass. The celebration will include the egg roll, make a memory crafts such as decorating a wooden egg, making a bunny ear headband and Easter egg wreath, music, face painting and the Easter Bunny. Egg roll races will occur by age group on the presidential lawn.
Want to make a morning of it? Take a tour of the President’s house afterwards!
This lively event is free for both children and their parents, but space is limited. Reserve your spot today!
