A completely nonjudgmental and safe space to share poetry held every Thursday at the Irving Theater. Come enjoy original poetry and readings from local and regional artists.
Once a month the Poetry Open Mic is just a portion of evening is shortened to make way for a featured poet with the evening concluding with a poetry slam. This month's feature is Chantel Massey.
Chantel Massey is a poet, performer, teaching artist, and educator from Indiana. She is a College of Wooster Alum with a BA in English and is a Winter Tangerine 2019 participant. Massey’s debut collection of poetry, Bursting at the Seams, was published by VK Press LLC in 2018. Her work is forthcoming and appears in FAF Collective, Indianapolis Review, and in many other online and print publications. Her current focus is on human rights, confessional and emotional honesty about womanhood, sexuality, spirituality, and blackness. By day she is a special education teacher providing an equitable education to little humans. She also hosts Tea’s Me Café’s youth poetry series with poet, Eric Saunders every first Friday.
