New Season at the ISO

From this weekend's dinner gala to next month's masquerade party, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra (ISO) has a little bit of something for everyone's heading into its 86th year of premier programming.

After kicking off the 2015-2016 season last weekend with a pair of very special concerts, the ISO will continue forward this Saturday with an Opening Night Gala at the Hilbert Circle Theatre. Inspired by the Shakespearian characters of Romeo and Juliet, the enchanting evening of music will feature excerpts from Prokofiev’s ballet, “Romeo and Juliet,” plus the “West Side Story” suite, performed by Indiana’s own star violinist, Joshua Bell. At the gala, the ISO's artists-in-residence, Time for Three, will also make a special appearance.

On Sunday, the ISO invites everyone back to the Hilbert for a free Community Day. The afternoon event feature a wide variety of activities and music presentations from 2 to 5 pm, followed by an hour-long performance from the ISO. In case you can’t make it out to any of this weekend’s events though, the Symphony has plenty of fun opportunities worth checking out in October, which are listed below.

  • Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly and Broadway’s best leading ladies kick off the Printing Partners Pops Series with Broadway Divas on October 2 and 3
  • The ISO takes audiences back in time with Back to the Future Film + Live Orchestra on October 21
  • American icon Kenny Rogers takes the stage with the ISO to perform many of his top-of-the-chart hits on October 23 and 24

Plus, Halloween fun for families with the ISO’s symFUNy Sundays concert, “Symphonic Spooktacular,” on October 25, and for adults with the first-ever Haunted Hilbert masquerade party on Friday, October 30 at 7 pm.
