November 11 to November 12
The Eiteljorg Museum invites you to meet and celebrate Eiteljorg Museum Fellows and Distinguished Artists, contemporary Native American artists who have garnered international recognition for their innovative paintings, sculptures, drawings and multi-media presentations and dramatic, thought-provoking art installations.
Native Art Now! opening weekend will include three exhibitions (Native Art Now!, In Their Honor and Geometry of Expression), a sneak peak of a new Native contemporary art documentary, the release of a new Eiteljorg Native contemporary art book and opportunities to meet and talk to artists while forging a new direction for the Fellowship’s future.
Native Art Now! will become a traveling exhibition of contemporary art from the permanent collection of the Eiteljorg Museum. In Their Honor features work by deceased Fellows Rick Bartow (Wyot), Harry Fonseca (Maidu/Nisenan/Portuguese/Hawaiian), John Hoover (Aleut), Allan House (Chiricahua Apache) and George Morrison (Ojibwe). The Geometry of Expression features work by Kay WalkingStick (Cherokee), Wendy Red Star (Crow) and Anna Tsouhlarakis (Navajo/Creek/Greek).
