DATES

July 2, 2020

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis will host a live, virtual conversation with Jeanne White Ginder, mother of Ryan White.

Thirty years ago, 18-year old Ryan White died of complications from HIV/AIDS contracted through a tainted blood product used to treat hemophilia. From the time the Kokomo, Indiana native was diagnosed at 13 years of age, he was bullied and ostracized because of immense fear of the little-known virus. Ryan’s mother, Jeanne White Ginder says COVID-19 is similar in many ways.

Mrs. White Ginder visits The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis several times a year. She speaks candidly with families and children gathered in Ryan’s bedroom located within The Power of Children gallery. She tells Ryan’s story of bravery as he successfully fought for his legal right to attend school and educate the world about HIV/AIDS.

To hear her share stories of Ryan’s life and her continued commitment to educate about HIV/AIDS and the consequences of bullying, join the virtual discussion by registering no later than Wednesday, July 1. Registrants will receive a confirmation email with details about joining the webinar.

We encourage you to attend this virtual event as a family. However, as a reminder, some of the topics discussed may be challenging for younger children. For content resources in advance of the event, please view Power of Children Educator Guide.
